About Attorney Sean D. Hummel

Meet Sean D. Hummel, a South Florida immigration lawyer with more than 30 years of experience helping individuals navigate U.S. Immigration Law.

Attorney Sean D. Hummel is the founder and principal attorney of Hummel Law. He has practiced law for more than 30 years and has devoted much of his career to helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complexities of U.S. immigration law. Over the course of his career, he has represented thousands of clients in immigration and other legal matters.

Sean earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in 1988 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 1991. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1992.

Sean began his legal career in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he developed a broad civil litigation practice involving probate and guardianship matters, family law, bankruptcy, personal injury, landlord-tenant disputes, and other civil cases. Although the subject matter varied, the common thread was litigation, analyzing complex facts, developing legal strategy, negotiating disputes, and representing clients in court. That early experience established the foundation for the civil litigation, probate, and estate-related work that remains part of his practice today.

In 1995, Sean relocated to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, where he was admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia. It was there that he developed his immigration practice, representing individuals, families, and businesses before the Immigration Courts and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Over the years, he has represented clients in a wide variety of immigration matters, including:

Practicing in one of the nation’s largest and most diverse immigrant communities provided Sean with extensive experience representing clients from around the world and exposed him to virtually every aspect of federal immigration practice. During this time, he also continued to litigate civil matters in the state and federal courts of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland.

Because immigration law is federal, the experience Sean gained representing clients before USCIS, the Immigration Courts, and federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area continues to benefit clients throughout Florida and across the United States today.

In 2005, Sean returned to South Florida and established Hummel Law. Today, his practice focuses primarily on U.S. Immigration Law, while also representing clients in selected Probate, Estate Administration, Estate Planning, Real Estate, and Civil Litigation matters.

Sean is admitted to practice before the following courts:

State Bar Admissions

Federal Court Admissions

Every legal matter presents its own unique facts, challenges, and objectives. Sean believes that effective representation begins with understanding each client’s goals, identifying potential legal issues before they become problems, and developing a legal strategy tailored to the client’s specific circumstances. Whether handling a routine immigration application or a complex legal dispute, Hummel Law is committed to providing experienced legal representation, clear communication, and practical guidance throughout every stage of the legal process.
