DHS Extends Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuela
On July 11, 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it had extended the designation of Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for a period of 18 months. This designation of TPS will allow eligible nationals from Venezuela to apply for an extension of their protected status and also apply for a (optional) work permit.
What are the dates of the extended designation of Venezuela for TPS? Venezuela has been designated for TPS from September 10, 2022 through March 10, 2024.
Who is eligible to apply for the extension of TPS for Venezuela? In order to establish eligibility you must show that you already applied for and were granted TPS for Venezuela and you were already residing in the United States as of March 8, 2021. If you arrived in the United States after March 8, 2021, then you will no be eligible for TPS.
When is the registration period for new TPS applications? Eligible applicants must file their TPS application before September 9, 2022. This includes applicants who are eligible under the existing TPS designation but who have not yet filed applications for TPS with USCIS.
